資料の解説

『名誉新誌』は、勤皇の志士を中心に明治維新で活躍した人々の事跡を紹介する雑誌であり、明治9年(1876)3月以降、『明治詩文』の出版元でもある大来社によって発行された。本資料は、それを合綴したものである。鴎外は、目次や各号の発行年月を書入れ、また、記事に取り上げられた人物の詩を欄外に注記している。「読之者欲毋号泣得乎」(これを読んだ人は、号泣することを止めようとしてもできないであろうの意)という「岩倉具視公」(十四号)に対する感想からは、若年期の鴎外の慷慨癖をうかがうことができる。(合)
