資料の解説

明治4年(1871)に刊行された、幕末の開国論者佐久間象山の著作。象山が吉田松陰の密航計画に連坐して捕えられた際に、獄中で記した漢文漢詩及び和歌を集めたものである。海舟の序に付された鴎外の書込みには「成斎評」、「大来社評」とあるが、これは、『明治詩文』第8集(明治10年(1877)7月)に掲載された同序に対する重野成斎、大来社員の評を転記したものである。鴎外はさらに、掲載時に海舟の序文に附された傍点や圏点までも朱筆で本書に転記している。この『明治詩文』からの評文の転記は、他に『東京今話』(鴎E44:354)にも見られ、鴎外が読書の際この雑誌をしばしば参照したことがわかる。(渋)
