資料の解説

金屯道人(仮名垣魯文)著。安政のコレラ流行の際に、民間で数多く発行された啓蒙的な養生書のうちの代表的なものである。『転寝の夢』(幕末に西洋医学の伝習を行ったポムペ・ファン・メールドルフォールトによるコレラの対策法を記した本)をそのまま収録している。巻末に「安政虎列刺之行其事多不伝今僅獲此一書可以少考矣明治十二年牽舟居士」という書入れがあり、鴎外による入手が医学部本科2年時であったこと、明治10年代、既に入手困難な本であったことがわかる。論文『Beriberi und Cholera in Japan』(日本における脚気とコレラ)内で、当時江戸で刊行されていたパンフレットとして、注に挙げられている。(山)
