鴎外による、楽器(主として日本の古楽器)の性質や来歴を抄書したノート。晩年のものと推定される。内容は、『日本雅楽概弁』、栗田寛『楽器考』、藤原守中『歌舞品目』などからの抜抄である。鴎外は、大正6年(1917)より同11年(1922)死去の年に至るまで帝室博物館総長の職に就いていたが、その間、同館所蔵の本について、目録『帝室博物館書目解題』を編んでいた。『日本雅楽概弁』と『歌舞品目』は、この『書目解題』の中で言及されている。『楽小記続』制作の際も、帝室博物館蔵本が参看されたのかもしれない。(多)
