題箋は「釈小記続」となっており、仏教各宗の法統や人名などを抄録した『釈小記』が同じく鴎外自筆の読書ノートとして存在するが、それと性格を同じくするものと思われる。明治大正の仏教史学者村上専精の『日本仏教史綱』(金港堂,明治31-32年刊)から法相、華厳、三論、密教各宗、浄土宗など各宗派の法統図を抄録、構成している。鴎外の晩年に散見される山加製原稿用紙に書かれており、大正5年頃の作成と考えられる。(神)
