古来仏教教理の基礎学である唯識思想についての鴎外自筆本。底本やいつごろ書かれたものかは不明。唯識宗・法相宗の教典である護法等菩薩造の成唯識論全10巻中の7巻までを、語彙の解釈や思想の論述などで綴っている。唯識三十頌の注釈、宗派、伝通経歴など、数十項目にわたって唯識学の問題点が集められており、仏教特有の読みくせについての振り仮名が105カ所記されているが、この読みくせについての理解は、明治33年(1900)より鴎外に唯識論を講義した玉水俊虠から学んだものとされる。また仏教教理を解説するための図表である義図が172カ所あり、中には鴎外が自作したと思われるものもある。また多くの註がドイツ語で書かれた鴎外自身の見解を示すものであり、鴎外の仏教観を探る一助となるものといえる。(神)
