資料の解説

江戸後期の戯作者山東京伝の読本における代表作。初版は文化3年(1806)だが、水野稔氏によれば、鴎外蔵のものは、明治刷。初冊巻頭に、鴎外の筆で「姓氏略目」を書いた和紙が折り込みで貼付されている。この「姓氏略目」には、「人名」以外にも、「図書」、「地名」なども含んだ固有名詞一覧が含まれている。「明治十七年五月十六日夜記」との書入れがあり、留学直前期、23歳での読書であったことが分かる。(小)
