帝国図書館(通称、上野図書館)に所蔵されていた武鑑や分限帳の目録で、その多くは現在でも、帝国図書館の蔵書を引継いだ国立国会図書館に収められている。筆者は不明だが、おそらく鴎外ではない。鴎外文庫にはほかにも、『大学図書館帝国図書館武鑑目録』(鴎A10:121)や『江戸鑑図目録』(鴎A10:209)などが蔵されており、本書との間には内容的な重複も見られる。鴎外が武鑑を集めるうちに渋江抽斎の印記に注目し、やがて史伝『渋江抽斎』の執筆にいたったことは著名だが、本書もそうした武鑑蒐集の過程で作成された資料の一つであろう。(出)
