本書は、伊沢榛軒『湘陽紀行』と、『榛軒臨終記抄』の鴎外自筆写本である。『湘陽紀行』は、『伊沢蘭軒』その二百五十二から二百五十四にかけての資料となり、作品中にも引用されている。また『榛軒臨終記抄』は、おなじく『伊沢蘭軒』の、その二百六十と二百六十一に引用されている。本書『湘陽紀行』の末尾には、「右伊沢榛軒手筆本其孫伊沢徳之所蔵天正五年五月十三日夜半謄写畢源高湛」とあり(「天正」は「大正」の誤りか)、また『榛軒臨終記抄』の末尾には「大正五年五月二十日夜抄源高湛」とあるので、『渋江抽斎』完結の前後という早い時期に蒐集された、『伊沢蘭軒』の関係資料であることがわかる。(出)
