Site:Tokoro-chashi site Okhotsk Locality: from the fill of Pit House 7

Period:Late stage of Okhotsk culture

Date:8-9th century

Possessor:Tokoro Research Laboratory

Comment:Realistic carving of a bear head made of deer antler. Although the lower part is missing, it originally could have had a stick form. The find was excavated from the upper part of a bone mound in a pit dwelling. This suggests the process of animal ritual in Okhotsk culture.
