活字化：11 Nov., 1909 Dear Dr. Chree, ／I have gone through your list and find that the signs of interrogation refer to records which are peculiar to Kew about which I think I wrote you. ／If you will allow them to remain we will see that they all come in their proper columns. ／Brackets have been used to show that there are two or more entries which are referred to by a single number. ／Your first number 874 for example refers to Jan. 2, 14h.0m. and to Jan. 2, 15h.27m. If you think it looks better without them we will have them removed. ／You will notice in the registers from many observatories the numbers are not successive which means that we have only printed observations which relate to earthquakes which have been common to many stations. ／With kind regards, Yours faithfully, John Milne
