活字化：July 18 1909 Dear Dr. Chree, Have been away from home for a few days hence delay in my reply. ／I only intend to publish records which are corroborated by observatories at other stations, particularly those which have a known origin and have turned up in this country at an expected time. ／Your 874 and 881 should therefore be excluded. ／And 926, 936, and 960 may stand. ／For these latter you have several entries for each and I see that I can pick out one which finds its equivalent at Shide, Bidston, or some other place. ／I am treating all British stations and the printed Shide list will be cut down like the rest. ／The notes in the column for remarks will I think indicate that in many instances we are only dealing with possible eqke relics. ／I keep a book which shows at how many stations a given eqke was recorded but the entries for 1909 will not be completed until the end of 1910. ／We can complete the entries for British Stations―Jan to June 1909―in time for our next circular and hope that this will be an incentive to make close examinations at other stations. ／Yours faithfully, J.
