嘉永元(1848)年刊『小山林堂書画文房図録』から書家・画家の姓名・来歴を抄録したもの。「小山林堂」は市河米庵の号で、書中記載の人名は米庵の門人・関係者によって構成されている。鴎外が大正年間に多く編んだ人名録の一であり、このような人名・固有名の抜書を通じて過去の時代の歴史文化状況を尋ねようとする試みが、多く史伝小説の直接あるいは間接の材となっていった。(多)
