解説:縄文時代後期中葉には、関東・東北・北海道にかけての広範な地域に磨消縄文を特徴とする類似性の高い土器が拡がる。?澗式土器はこの時期の全道に分布する土器で、口縁部や胴部の刻み列、横方向に走る羽状縄文などを特徴とする。

Comment:In the middle Late Jomon period, cord-marking decorations with erased areas became popular around the Kanto, Tohoku and Hokkaido areas. Hokkema type pottery spread throughout Hokkaido during this period, and has characteristic decoration patterns such as lines of notches in the rim and body, and crosswise herring-bone cord-markings.
