資料の解説

『詩経』は、中国の五経の一つ。墨による欄外への注記が確実に鴎外の手になるものである。書入れにおいて、「長孫曰」などの形で数多く引用されているのは、近世後期の儒者西嶋蘭溪の考証随筆『慎夏漫筆』であり、たとえば、「西嶋長孫曰、左僻也(後略)」という書入れは、『慎夏漫筆』巻三、2丁裏から3丁表の記述を写したものである。このほか、中井履軒の『七経雕題略』なども参照されており、近世日本の儒学者らの解釈を参考にしながら、経書に親しんでいたことがうかがえる。なお、『慎夏漫筆』は明治14年(1881)の閲読が明らかな本であり(『事物異名類編』解題参照)、本書への書入れもその頃になされたと推定できる。(合)
