掛川中学教諭の野崎安太郎が、『日本書画人名辞書』続編附巻『名家書画談』から抄出した松崎慊堂の伝。末尾には鴎外の識語があり、「大正八年三月三日」の日付から晩年の史伝作品に用いた資料と推定できる。野崎安太郎は同校の国語・漢文科を担当し、大正7年(1918)11月20日には「松崎慊堂の事跡について」の題で談話を行っている。野崎が『静岡県立掛川中学校友会誌』大正8年(1919)1月号に載せた「掛川教授松崎慊堂翁」は同年2月に鴎外に贈られ、当該部分を切抜いて製本したものが鴎外文庫に残っている(鴎H20:699)。(多)
