資料の解説

江戸後期の漢詩人頼山陽の詩集。鴎外の書入れは「北条子譲墓碣銘」(巻四)に集中しており、『北条霞亭』その二に見える霞亭墓碣銘の対校、すなわち、巣鴨真性寺にある墓碣銘の文章と『山陽遺稿』所収のそれとの比較に際して用いられたことは明らかである。注記はいずれも、『北条霞亭』中の記述と対応しており、たとえば「霞亭先生北条君墓」「友人頼襄撰并書孤子退建」などの書入れ(『山陽遺稿』になく真性寺墓碣銘には存在する語句を注記している)は、「東西に長く南北に狭い地域の中程に『霞亭先生北条君墓』がある。」「末には『友人頼襄撰并書、孤子退建』と署してある。」という小説の文章へとつながっている。なお、「孤子退」とは霞亭の養子北条悔堂のことである。(合)
