活字化：Seismological Committee of the British Association, Burlington House, London, W April 1902 Circular of Instructions Dear Sir, ／In order to secure uniformity in the returns, you are requested to enter the details of disturbance on the forms sent herewith. ／The observations should be entered as son after development as possible, and at intervals of Six months, viz.: after December 31st and after June 30th in each year, the forms should be sent to the Secretary of the Seismological Committee, British Association, Burlington House, London, W., England. ／It is thought that the columns of the form sufficiently explain themselves, especially if attention be paid to the Instructions prefixed, but the Committee wish to call the attention of the observers to the necessity of condensing the ‘Remarks’ as far as possible. ／Photographic copies of important seismograms should be sent, and these would frequently remove the necessity of lengthy descriptions. ／But where the description demands a greater space than is allowed for it, separate sheets should be used. ／‘Remarks’ should not include facts which can be deducted from the tabular matter. ／It is important that data should be supplied which would enable the ‘amplitude’ expressed in mm. to be converted into are. ／Additional forms will be supplied on application to the address given above. ／Yours faithfully, JOHN MILNE
